Personal Information :
From a young age, Yasmin decided to put her higher education on hold in order to pursue a professional career in motor sports. She is the first Gulf female to be both a co-driver and then a driver and won the ladies trophy in the 2002 FIA Middle East Rally Championship, in addition to also competing in one leg of the FIA World Cross Country Championship, the UAE desert challenge, where she was awarded the ‘Spirit of the Rally’ trophy for stopping to help her fellow competitors that were stuck and thus affecting her overall timings.
An unfortunate accident put her out of professional racing, but she continued her career in Sports Management, working as a consultant for some of the largest teams in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Arabian Gulf. During this time, Yasmin obtained her official license from FIFA to act as a Licensed Player Agent. The first Gulf Arab woman and the first of two Bahrainis to obtain this license.
On Bahraini Women’s Day in 2012, Yasmin had the honor of receiving an award from Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, President of the Supreme Council for Women, for her achievements and contributions towards Women in Sport.
In 2015 Yasmin graduated with honors from the University of Leicester with a degree in Archaeology and Ancient History and has worked on archaeological digs in the United Kingdom as well as working as an Osteologist in the National Museum of Archaeology in Lisbon, Portugal.
She still works as a Sports Management consultant and is also the Founding Partner and Managing Director of Miguel Pinto Barbosa & Co, a boutique Architecture, Interior Design, Landscape and Furniture design studio, where she works alongside her husband.
Yasmin is an active Board of Trustees member of the Bahrain Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and along with her husband have adopted four dogs. They recently welcomed their first child, Gabriela Danya.
